Skill level

Here is an overview of the techniques you are expected to know at each level. If you are unfamiliar with any of the techniques, I recommend finding a video tutorial on YouTube that demonstrates how to work the technique.

Beginner: knitting, purling, casting on using the long-tail cast-on method, basic increases and decreases, binding off, and the magic loop technique.

Beginner-level patterns also include more detailed instructions.

Intermediate: all beginner techniques, Italian cast-on, Italian bind-off, double knitting, short rows, picking up stitches for, e.g., sleeves or a neckline, I-cord, working with multiple colours when knitting stripes, and two-colour stranded knitting in knit stitches only.

Advanced: all beginner and intermediate techniques, two- or multi-colour stranded knitting in both knit and purl stitches.

This overview will be updated as new techniques are introduced in the patterns.
